Take Action!

From rallies to street festivals, Dolores Street Community Services organizes many great activities.  Be a part of the fun, and support our community.

Get Involved!

Dolores Street is always looking for people to help out, in many different ways.  Check the links below if you’re interested in volunteering, donating items or money, helping us with events, or taking action within the community.

Volunteer

If you would like to donate your time, volunteering can be a wonderful experience and is a great way to support our programs.  You can choose from a wide variety of volunteer experiences, from gardening or helping with resident activities at the Cohen Residence to teaching English with the Dolores Shelter Program to single-day projects and special events.  Please fill out an application and sign up for the volunteer e-newsletter, and we will be back in touch with you right away.

Donate Items

We have a constant need for many items that we use daily in our programs, and we have some special needs – items that have not made it into this year’s budget.   Check our wish list below for details on the items we need at this time.

If you would like information on how to donate items, or to arrange for delivery, contact us or download the following PDF:  How to Host a Collections Drive!

Donate Your Car

Did you know you can donate your automobile, truck, pickup, recreational vehicle, motorcycle, boat with trailer, and/or airplane and we'll auction it off and collect the proceeds for our programs?  We've partnered with Volunteers of America who will arrange a pick-up, handle the paperwork and coordinate the auction.  Call them at 510-567-1114 and let them know you'd like to make a donation for Dolores Street Community Services.

Advocacy

Dolores Street Community Services is committed to advocating for resources and policies that address issues effecting homelessness and impacting low-income people with HIV/AIDS in the Mission and Castro Districts.

Dolores Street is closely watching policy and legislative changes at the federal, state and local levels and how they will impact our constituencies. We are committed to joining the voices of millions in the country calling for just immigration reform, resources to fight homelessness and treat people suffering from HIV/AIDS.

You can support Dolores Street by learning more about these issues and how they affect our programs.
