Staff Attend World Social Forum

This past week DSCS staff members Eric Quezada, Wendy Phillips, and Luis Hererra attended the historic first United States Social Forum in Atlanta, Georgia. Modeled after the World Social Forum that originated in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2002, as an alternative to the World Economic Forum held yearly in Davos, Switzerland. The social forum process creates a forum for the coming together of social movements to share experiences and dialogue and to come together to create a just and sustainable world. Over ten thousand activists and grassroots leaders came together to dialogue in over 900 forums, workshops and activities over the five day gathering. Under the theme that “Another World is Possible” DSCS staff participated in leading workshops, attending forums and workshops and providing translation.
